Kratom is one of the unsung heroes in traditional natural medicine. The effects of Kratom can be used for anything from an anti-anxiety agent to a pain regulator. I find that most people will use it for any old injuries that are bothersome, due to its range of strains that can be produced.
In 2008 I suffered one of the most traumatic injuries that I’ve ever had to deal with. My injury left me stuck in bed for almost 6 months with multiple bone drilling surgeries were needed throughout the year. I was loaded up with all types of medications including; Vicodin, Darvocet, Percocet and many other prescriptions to keep me pain free. I found myself so ‘poisoned’ with medications; I wouldn’t even be able to hold a conversation without feeling so out of it and flighty that even speaking to a friend or family would make me very uncomfortable. Needless to say, I was sick and tired of being kept in such a state of “non-operation.”
It wasn’t until a friend brought to light the idea of finding natural remedies to my attention that I really started to do my research and look into alternative medicines. I’ve tried such methods for other purposes in the past and never really felt to comfortable with the idea of going over my doctors head to find my own source of pain relief, thinking that the doctor knew what was best for me. Suddenly, a light went off in my head, “There are remedies and fixers growing all over the world, used before modern medicine, or where the reach of modern medicine and pharmaceutical companies have not yet grasped.”
Kratom was the answer, however, I had to go through a process of trial and error. Sure, I tried a few other products, most we’re either so potent that it should have been a novelty one-time-use kind of “medicine”. Others that I’d tried didn’t do a thing to me. I then placed a small order of a little dried leaf product from Indonesia called Kratom. This was it. This was what I was looking for. I could simply scoop a teaspoon out if I just wanted to kick back and relax or I could use half of the bag supplied if I was really in pain and needed to be put in a nice meditative state.
For those of you that don’t know a thing about Kratom, here is what I’ve learned thus far. I prefer that my Kratom be ground up into a powder. The only reason that I like my Kratom in this specific form is that it’s much easier to put in a glass of Orange Juice or a smoothie and chug it down. I’ve also tried it in leaf form, with this I’d basically steep it into a nice glass of hot water and drink it like a tea. This was nice, but I’m not really a tea guy. I’ve also tried the Kratom resin dissolved into a glass of hot water. This was a really nice way to take my Kratom, but it did prove to be a little bit of a time consumer. I’m a man on the go. Speaking of being on the go,
I love the way that the Kratom can be put in a zip-lock bag and carried around without any problems. If I twist my leg (where my injury was) and I need to take some at work I can do so without feeling as if I’ve been drugged. I can even drive on Kratom; now I don’t condone such a thing but if needed it’s better than taking a Percocet and hopping on the freeway. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think! Cheers to Kratom!
